Before getting too hung up about the statistic that "45% of Britain hates freedom", you need to look at the actual poll and what was being asked. It turns out that it was a poll of 67 people taken at the museum event. Britain has a population of over 60 million people and most people wouldn't know or care about Britain's warring past.
Also, the poll was not about hating George Washington, but about who was Britain's greatest adversary. Being an adversary does not necessarily translate to being a hated figure.
I do agree that Britain is socialist and already overtaken the dystopian "1984" future. Sadly the US is heading that way too.
