The Resolution of Independence

(Many believe the Declaration of Independence separated the 13 colonies from Great Britain, but really it was the Resolution of Independence. While the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, this could not have been done without legally separating the colonies which is what the Resolution of Independence did, and this resolution was approved by the Second Continental Congress on July 2, 1776.)
