Rand Paul was detained by TSA today. Rand Paul went through a body scanner and says it went off and said something was on his leg, so Rand asked if he could just go through the scanner again, but the TSA declined and said they are told to grope (pat him down) him.
Once Rand Paul heard this he refused, and asked to just go through the scanner.
Jay Carney said this about the TSA detaining Rand Paul, “The passenger (Rand Paul) was not detained. He (Rand Paul) was escorted out of the area by local law-enforcement.”
This is of course, a very big complement to the TSA officers and a big spit in the face to the true Local Police Officers, as the real police officers worked hard to earn the the title of Local Law-Enforcement. The TSA is able to earn this title by just getting hired, and nothing more; no years education or anything.
Another thing that is wrong with Carney's statement is that Rand Paul according to the definition of detain he was detained.
detain - 1. to hold or keep in or as if in custody 2. obsolete : to keep back : WITHHOLD 3. to restrain especially from proceeding (Merriam-Webster, Incorporated)
See Rand Paul was detained, he fits all .of these criteria as he said “If you’re told you can’t leave, does that count as detention?”, also he stated “I tried to leave the cubicle to speak to one of the TSA people and I was barked at: ‘Do not leave the cubicle!’ So, that, to me sounds like I’m being asked not to leave the cubicle. It sounds a little bit like I’m being detained.”
Ron Paul said this to his son being contained by the TSA, “The police state in this country is growing out of control. One of the ultimate embodiments of this is the TSA that gropes and grabs our children, our seniors, and our loved ones and neighbors with disabilities. The TSA does all of this while doing nothing to keep us safe."
